Licence for Dog

Introduction

Application of  Dog license covers all areas under the supervision of the Shah Alam City Council. 

How To Apply 

1. The forms are available at the Main Counter level G, Counter Licensing Department on the 13th floor, Sungai Buloh Branch Office, Branch Office at Kota Kemuning and Branch Office at Setia Alam. ​
2. Completed forms must be submitted together with one (1) copy each of the related documents. ​
3. Dog License Application Form duly completed must be deposited at the counter Licensing Department on the 13th floor or in the Main Counter level G.​

Terms and Conditions 

1. Dog aged three (3) months old must obtain a license from the Shah Alam City Council. 
2. Dogs are allowed to stay in the following premises: -       
   

   Bill	The Type Of	The Number Of Dogs
   i.	Bungalow	2 dogs
   ii.	Semi-detached (semi-d) & clusters	2 dogs
   iii.	End Terrace House (Corner Lot)	2 dogs​
   iv.	Terrace House Edge (End Lot)	1 dog
   v.	Intermediate Terrace House	1 dog
   vi.	Single Unit Factory and Executive Club	2 dogs

     
3. Types of multi-storey / strata premises such as apartments, townhouses, etc. related are not allowed
4. Premises that require  neighbour’s views:

5. The applicant / owner of the dog must display signs that the house has a dog. 
6. Akita, American Bulldog, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brazilireo, Japanese Tosa, Neapolitan Mastiff, Pit Bull Terrier / American Pit Bull Terrier Bull and Staffonshire are not allowed as pets. ​
7. Rottweiler dogs are  prohibited but the owner should get their health checked from the Selangor  State Department of  Veterinary prior to its licensing by PBT.The forms can be found at the Petaling District Veterinary Department:-

8. This special permission is only meant for new applications. For existing owners who already have a license can continue to renew it until the dog dies
9. Applicant / dog owner is obliged to castrate / drive a local mongrel breed dog (Mongrel / Mixbreed)
   
10. For owners of existing licenses, the license can be renewed until the dog dies. However, the Council reserves the right to revoke the license in the event of a complaint and a violation of any conditions stipulated by the Council.
11. The owner of the dog should be :-​
    
• Maintain a dog house where the dog is placed in a wash and clean state. However, dog owners are not obliged to hold a dog house.
• Removing from its premises any faeces material from dogs in any way that is unlikely to cause offence or distress to others.
• Take the necessary measures to ensure that the dog does not interfere due to the unrelenting barking or other to its neighbors.
• Take the necessary measures to ensure that the dog does not wander outside the owner's premises area and that the dog should be tied up and put on a mouthpiece when taken out by the owner.
• It is not permissible to take dogs to public places to remove feces.
  
• Dogs need to be worn with tags all the time.
  
12. Any dog that is more than three (3) months old is found free or found in a public place by not wearing a metal badge/tag license, the Shah Alam City Council may confiscate or destroy the dog.
    
13. Dog owners should make sure that the dog has been vaccinated with canine distemper, viral parvo and hepatitis. This vaccination needs to be injected every year.
14. All regulations are subject to the laws and instructions of the Council from time to time.
