The rapid development of Shah Alam is increasing day by day especially after it has been upgraded to a city on October 10, 2000. Shah Alam is administered by Local Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), formerly known as Shah Alam Municipal Council (MPSA). As the administrator of developed Selangor state capital, MBSA is trying to create a balanced urban development in terms of social, environmental and economic welfare of its residents.
MBSA is responsible in providing municipal development services such as planning, development, providing basic infrastructure, cleaning, public health, cemeteries, beautifying landscape, cheerfulness of the city and more.
MBSA services also include the development of human capital by organizing programmes based on the concept of a people-friendly community for all walks of life, the relief of poverty, natural disasters, combating social illness and helping the single mothers and the elderly.
