Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) took the initiative to implement Development Workshop Shah Alam City Center, Section 14, Shah Alam. The program involves property owners in the city center, technical agencies, professional agencies, councilors and technical departments in MBSA.
The purpose of this program is to study the development status of City Center, Shah Alam and identify development issues in Downtown Eugene with a draft Urban Design Study for the City Center area Section 14, Shah Alam. The workshop is expected to identify issues and challenges in developing the Shah Alam City Center by obtaining input and feedback from the participants. All input gathered from this workshop will be the basis for forming the Urban Design Study for the City Center area which is more comprehensive and integrated.
Accordingly, the planning and thorough study was needed to ensure the development of Shah Alam City Center has become one of the well-established structure and can improve and introduce Shah Alam as a state capital as well as Downtown dominant state.
In addition, existing development in Shah Alam City Center has also invited many challenges to be solved by providing a system and integrated planning. Thus, an urban design study for the development of Shah Alam City Center, taking into account the existing situation and other factors should be studied in more detail and take immediate action in order to create a balanced development of the Town Centre and sustainable.
The current challenge of planning in the City Centre, Section 14 Shah Alam Shah Alam to make as a dominant center is to establish guidelines for the development of urban design that takes into account the latest development principles such as low carbon city and community-friendly city (people-friendly) and improved network movement between buildings.
In addition, the proposed construction of major public transport projects such as LRT 3 (Bandar Utama - Klang) and BRT (Kuala Lumpur - Klang) that goes through the center of Shah Alam will indirectly boost the demand for development in central Shah Alam. It will also provide convenience to residents in central Shah Alam to connect with the outside area more quickly and strategise.
Another challenge is to improve and re-brand the city of Shah Alam in terms of the character and image of the city for the purpose of diversification of activities, integrating the role of a light rail transit system (LRT) with land use planning and improve the public transport system.
Access roads should also be improved to facilitate mobility to all central focal point to support the efficiency of public transport and the impact of existing projects in Shah Alam as well as the development of areas bordering Damansara, Petaling Jaya and Kelana Jaya.
Shah Alam City Center area is located in the heart of the Council's administrative area and an area that has become the most important growth center for Shah Alam and Selangor. This area has been a center of administrative activities, trade, services, culture, tourism, and recreation for the citizens of Shah Alam and the surrounding area.
The opening ceremony of City Center Development Workshop Shah Alam, Shah Alam Section 14 was officiated by the Hon. Dato 'Ahmad Zaharin b. Mohd Saad, mayor of Shah Alam. Also present were Mr. Shukri b. Hamin Mohamad, Deputy Mayor of Shah Alam, Councillors and Directors of the Department of MBSA.
